I'm from a similar area. No joke, an obituary I remember some years back from the local paper: "Although not a local to the area, Mrs. So-n-so had lived in the county for 68 years."
Ha! Yes! Ferndale CA is much the same. My husband and I lived there after he retired from the Coast Guard, and even though it was a super small town, only the “blood of the earth “ could be a local. We were “other people” hahah
LOL, I hear you, Michelle! Being from a small town in Wisconsin (Menomonie), that's how they were to "outsiders." I could go back today, run for state Senate or something, and still be considered a local there!! :-)
Say you’re a resident localmotive.
I really like this one 😹😹
I truly understand since my friends there were long long time residents and business owners and still knew they were not locals.
You MUST be born here lol!

Yeah, that sound about exactly like this place 😅
This is also true when you grow up in The South.
I think I have to move back to Menomonie and run for State Senate. It's the only way anybody will consider me a dang local!
Yup!! My brother lives in Depot Bay...been there for over 30 years-- Love that area--
The whale watching capital of Oregon! Love it there 😄
