I love the humanity you display in these stories. These things could happen to just about anyone. Thanks for the laugh.

You know what? My 4 runner got stolen once, recovered and supposedly reported as recovered by the PD, as the highway patrol were the ones that found it, but nope. I drove that vehicle around for awhile and then got the strange feeling something ain't right. I was right. When I called the PD I found out they still had my car listed as stolen. I could have been arrested for driving my own vehicle. It pays to self advocate.

Yes, I could have been arrested for the same thing!! I guess you need to get this kind of thing in writing.

There have been a few people to tell me already, that we are not the only ones to lose our cars 😹 Thanks for reading Bill!

So relatable to probably everyone, but so funny when it happens to someone else. “Hey dude, where’s my car?”

I loved this story!! ❤️ Sound like something I would get entangled in. But I would NOT go Monday morning skinny dipping in Lake Superior in winter. Are you one of those Polar Bears that jump into the lake on New Year’s morning?

Thanks Gundy! I appreciate that and glad you liked the story!!😸(Okay, just the toes in Lake Superior 😹)

I've called the bank before to cancel cards that were just put in a different part of my purse. Very glad to see there are more of us out there and somehow we function.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. I hardly ever remember to take note of where I park in large parking lots and get a lot of exercise that way.

A good whil back, at weekends, we used to rent pool cars from my husbands employer - at really cheap prices. Every time it was a different car. Park it somewhere and then later on, starting wondering what colour and model we had this time! Key fobs came in after about 6 months of this - and where a godsend!! :)

When I moved from NY to MO I was informed that my car had two VIN's. I sat crying in the inspection garage (it had been a difficult move) imagining my car being taken away from me. It finally got resolved and I was allowed to register it, but was told I probably couldn't ever sell it. The consensus was that it probably had a new dash put in at some point and they didn't bother swapping the vin number. Sadly that problem was solved last Monday by an accident. Thankfully nobody was too badly hurt but little car will never ride again. (not really little as my daughter keeps telling me, a Volvo V70 station wagon).

I hate these “little” paperwork problems that actually cause major real problems. Glad everybody walked away from the accident.

Very funny, Adam, driving your own "stolen" car for a year!

I haven't had anything quite as embarrassing as that, but remember hours spent walking around rutted fields trying to find my car in the dark after a music festival. I'd aimed to nip out sharpish ahead of the queues, but was still searching well after midnight.

Thanks Wendy, and that’s the worst!! I always leave early to beat traffic from any event, so this would have been hard for me to deal with 😅
