You made me think about an early similar experience on the watery edge of Oregon. We moved to Eugene in 1976. The first really hot summer in the valley we thought a trip to the beach would be refreshing. We drove to Florence all decked out in shorts and sandals. Our son was four years old and loving his new saltwater sandals. You know the rest. We huddled in the car looking at the freezing fog on the beach! 😄
The first thing is: Highland cows are the absolute best. I send off a stuffie Highland to any little newborn in my orbit! There are variants, so I’m not sure the Siletz variety is stuffie-ready, but Highlands are a treat when they’re plump and smooth.
“The Pitt” was a good discovery. Congratulations. I’ve been recommending it around. (May I take this opportunity to recommend “Ludwig”?) Noah Wylie has grown a bit scruffy, though.
That is an awesome stuffie, I’m going to have to get my 18 year old son that! The Pitt is so good, it makes me feel sick, but blood does that to me. I relate to the fainting student doctor 😂 Thanks for the Ludwig suggestion, I have heard about that and am now looking for something! 😄
That sounds more realistic LOL. I like Pittsburgh, but have never heard anybody call it that! Greetings from Newport, we call it New to the P to the O R T
The Oregon coast sound like the perfect climate. Spring here in the UK and it's flip flops in the day and wool socks at night weather 😂 Oh and it might rain at some point or even snow, you just don't know what to wear.
I love it at the height of winter and summer, when it is much milder than everywhere else. The rain can be a bit much (temperate rainforest 😅) but overall it’s great. My next post will be entitled, “Oh, the damn allergies again!” 😂
So good, Adam! I love that 70 feels sweltering because you've acclimated successfully from the midwest to the Pacific Northwest. Reverse layering is definitely an art especially if you don't have a backpack handy to put the layers you're reversing, into. The waterfall is beautiful! Did you three wade in the water to cool off? The Pitt sounds interesting, and I had to laugh about your House comment, thinking you might have contracted something dreadful after the show aired. We're big House fans, here. P.S. We're not into big houses.
Congrats on your books Adam! btw, perfect temp for me is around 68 degrees. I can sleep, drink, and play at that temperature! Loved the post and update!
Hey, I’ve been there! @K.L. Rockwell and I used to vacation there when Minneapolis got too dull. I remember being at The Elephant & Castle which if I remember correctly, was at the bottom of our hotel. We even got up to Lake Winnipeg once (Lake Peg Leg)! We really enjoyed it, but it was July.

I had the exact opposite experience when we moved here 13 years ago!! 😂😂 I was one of those weird days in Florence where the beach was 100 degrees!!

I believe that locals in Pittsburgh call it “The Burgh.” I could be wrong. Anyway, greetings from Virginia Beach, where we call it “Virginia Beach.”

😂 sounds about right for a good climate

Thanks so much Mary! 😄 I am SO bad at reverse layering! I usually travel with shorts now LOL (we also don’t like houses) 🏘️
We keep "short pants and flip flop shoes" at the ready in Texas, too!
I’m going to start calling them short pants because that’s awesome 😎 and glad I’m not the only one who does it!
😂

Thanks John! You might just love living here in the summer
If they did something like "The Pitt" in my hometown, they'd call it "The Peg", which makes it seem like it's about pirates.
The Peg?? Sounds like it's about my aunt, LOL! 😹😹
The only other option would be “The Winny”.

Mosquito season. But summer is the only time it’s really hot here.
That lake DID have a ton more f mosquitos. It was hot, but luckily I layered appropriately.
